Getting started

What does Stock Footage Tool do?

Stock Footage Tool is a Windows application for preparing stock video, images, and illustrations for submission. It brings AI-generated titles, descriptions, and keywords, platform-specific settings, CSV export, and on-PC quality checks into one interface.

Who is the tool for?

It is intended for creators submitting video, photos, and illustrations to Adobe Stock, PIXTA, Shutterstock, Pond5, Getty/iStock, and similar marketplaces, especially people managing many assets or multiple destinations.

Can I use it outside Windows?

The current version is for Windows. A Mac version is not currently available.

Is it only for video?

Video is the primary focus, but images and illustrations are also supported. Some settings and submission workflows differ by media type.

Which stock platforms are supported?

It supports preparation for Adobe Stock, PIXTA, Shutterstock, Pond5, and Getty/iStock. Getty/iStock workflows can also prepare output used with DeepMeta 4 or QHero.

Can Stock Footage Tool upload directly to stock sites?

No. It prepares metadata, CSV files, and submission JPGs. File upload and final Submit actions are completed on each stock site or in its supported external tool.

Can I download it now?

The product is currently preparing for official release. Availability, pricing, and download instructions will be announced on the official site once confirmed.

AI & API

Which AI options can I use?

You can choose Local AI or APIs from OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude.

Do I need an API key?

A key is required for the Cloud AI provider you choose. Local AI does not require a Cloud API key.

Does a ChatGPT Plus plan include API use?

No. Paid web-service plans such as ChatGPT Plus and API billing are handled separately. Check API access and billing terms with the provider you plan to use.

What is Local AI?

Local AI performs AI processing on the PC with a compatible local environment. The current product includes a configuration using Ollama / Gemma 4 12B.

Can anyone use Local AI immediately?

Local AI requires compatible PC performance and a local environment such as Ollama and the target model. Availability and speed depend on the PC.

Should I use Local AI or Cloud AI?

Local AI may suit users prioritizing privacy and external API cost. Cloud AI provides access to higher-performance cloud models. Quality and speed can differ between the two approaches.

Is an internet connection required?

Cloud AI, model-list updates, and checks of external services require internet access. Project editing, on-PC features, and a configured Local AI environment include operations that do not require external communication.

How much do AI APIs cost?

Cloud AI usage is billed directly to the user by each provider. Check the provider's current pricing rules for the actual charge.

Must I update the app when a new AI model is released?

The AI API settings include a Refresh available models action for updating provider model information. A newly listed model is not necessarily a recommended Stock Footage Tool model.

Can I review AI-generated English in Japanese?

When “Generate a review translation” is enabled, Cloud AI can provide a Japanese review translation. Local AI (Gemma 4 12B) does not generate that review translation. The submission English metadata itself remains editable.

Metadata generation

What does the AI generate?

Depending on the platform and media type, it generates titles, descriptions, keywords, and tags.

Can I edit AI-generated content?

Yes. Generated titles, descriptions, keywords, and related fields can be reviewed and edited in the tool.

Can I generate metadata for multiple assets together?

Yes. Select multiple assets and process them as a batch.

Is identical copy used for every platform?

No. Content is adjusted for platform limits and required conditions. English keywords use a shared Master Keywords workflow, with optional platform-specific generation when needed.

Can important keywords appear first?

The tool can generate keywords with important-term order in mind and allows required terms. A destination may still change the displayed order after import.

Must I enter AI settings every time?

No. AI prompt presets can reuse common settings, while asset-specific hints and required terms can be added when needed.

Does it support editorial content?

It supports platform-specific editorial settings. Location, editorial selection, and required capture dates can be reflected in supported output. Required fields and formats vary by destination.

Can I enter place names in Japanese?

Supported editorial processing can format entered City / Country information into English when needed. It is based on the location supplied by the user and is not intended to invent a different place.

CSV & submission

Which platform CSV files can it create?

It can create submission-preparation CSVs for Adobe Stock, PIXTA, Shutterstock, Pond5, and Getty/iStock. Fields and output differ by destination.

Can I export a CSV with missing required fields?

Export normally stops when errors remain. If there are warnings only, you can review them and choose whether to continue.

What are DeepMeta 4 and QHero?

They are external tools or services used in Getty/iStock submission and management workflows. Stock Footage Tool prepares CSVs and related output for them; DeepMeta 4 and QHero are not stock marketplaces.

Can metadata be embedded into photos or illustrations?

For photos and illustrations, the tool can create submission JPG files and embed supported IPTC / XMP metadata. Actual fields vary by platform and media type.

Does it overwrite the original media file?

In principle, the original media file is not modified. Metadata for images and illustrations is embedded into a newly created submission JPG. Removing an asset from the list does not delete the original file.

Does creating a CSV finish the entire submission?

No. A CSV is one part of preparation. Uploading media, applying the CSV, final review, and Submit are completed on the destination site or supported external tool.

Quality checks & utilities

What does the quality check examine?

It analyzes video on the PC for candidates such as black frames, white flashes, freezes, momentary corruption, unintended cuts, fixed black bars, clear focus loss, or strong instability at the beginning or end.

Does an OK quality result guarantee acceptance?

No. The quality check does not predict or guarantee any marketplace review result. It is an on-PC aid for finding candidates for clear technical defects before submission.

Is a video shorter than five seconds an error?

The on-PC quality check treats videos under five seconds as a warning. Duration requirements vary by destination and may have exceptions such as loop content, so check the latest rules of the site you use.

What does automatic shutdown do?

Set a delay in hours and minutes or use quick buttons such as +30 minutes or +1 hour, and the PC shuts down when the timer expires. A Windows notification is shown five minutes before the scheduled shutdown. An optional force-close setting is available only when needed. It does not detect when another process has finished.

Can I save work and continue later?

Yes. Save the work as a project and continue later. If assets go offline after their storage location changes, relinking can reconnect the project to the actual files.

Privacy & support

Are assets stored on a Stock Footage Tool server?

Stock Footage Tool does not upload and store assets on its own cloud server. With Local AI, the selected AI generation and AI Assistant processing runs in the local PC environment. Cloud AI sends information required for AI processing to the API provider selected by the user.

What is sent to Cloud AI?

Depending on the feature, images, representative frames extracted from video, entered hints, questions, and minimal required context may be sent to the selected AI Provider. The exact content depends on the feature used.

Are API keys saved in project files?

API keys are not designed to be stored in ordinary project files. The tool uses secure Windows credential management.

What should I do if I have a question or error?

Ask the in-tool AI Assistant and attach screenshots or TXT / LOG files when needed. It uses product Knowledge and safe current-state information rather than freely searching the web. Selecting Local AI never causes an automatic fallback to Cloud AI.
